We will use both hymn books, though only one each Sunday.
The monthly Simply Worship service will continue to be on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 4.30 pm.
All services are ‘Common Worship’ modern language except where indicated otherwise. BCP = Book of Common Prayer Traditional Language. Occasionally the pattern of services is altered, or our usual services are replace by other Special Services (eg Pet Service, Harvest Festival, Service of Remembrance, Christingle Service, Children’s Nativity Service, Holy Week Services etc). 9.30 am Family Worship (1st Sunday of the month)
This service uses liturgy from Common Worship Service of the Word with a sermon and hymns. Two bible readings are used and we don’t tend to say the psalm of the day. The service runs for approximately 60 minutes. There is provision for all ages of children: – two Explorer Groups for ages 3-6 and 7-11. Older children/ young people are encouraged to take a part in the service and can help with the younger groups. Refreshments are served in the church hall after the service.
9.30 am Sung Eucharist (All other Sundays)
This service has a fairly formal structure around Common Worship Holy Communion with a sermon and hymns. All three bible readings set for the day are used (including the Gospel). Music worship is both traditional and contemporary led by organ. The service runs for about 60-75 minutes. There is provision for all ages of children: – two Explorer Groups for ages 3-6 and 7-11. Older children/ young people are encouraged to take a part in the service and can help with the younger groups. Refreshments are served in the church hall before and after the service.
4.30 pm Simply Worship Service
On the third Sunday of each month we have this special children’s and family service which lasts 45 – 60 minutes. It is suitable for pre-school and primary school aged children. The service is very creative and informal. We usually do craft and often games or drama during the service; we use a mixture of contemporary worship songs and some traditional songs suitable for children. The service is screen based.
9.15 am Morning Prayer
This is a spoken daily prayer service from Common Worship.
10.00am Holy Communion
This is a BCP spoken service running for 25-30 minutes with a short homily. The congregation gathers in Church for coffee afterwards.
