St. Nicholas’ Church

Here is the church on Church Green in the middle of Harpenden. For 800 years people have been worshipping and serving God in this place. Today there are public services every day except Monday and at each service, all are welcome.

Alongside all our regular services, the church has activities for children and groups for prayer and Bible study. There are weddings and baptisms with preparation for each, and also funerals.

Reverend Canon Dr Dennis Stamps is the Rector of the Parish of Harpenden.’

Music is important in our church and parish, with choirs and opportunities for instrumentalists.

We have close links with churches and schools in Harpenden and raise funds for different charities. The church hall hosts many groups, from Scouts and Guides to Mothers’ Union, and Cornelia’s, a Fairtrade café.

Above all, there is much prayer. Praying and praising God provide the foundation for all that happens in this place.
