Mothers Union

Mothers Union Harpenden Banner

Parish of Harpenden Mothers’ Union (which dates from 1895) normally meets every last Thursday of the month  at 2.15pm. and is part of a International Christian Charity.

We have 50 members, some of whom do not regularly attend meetings; but they each receive a bi-monthly Newsletter.  Members are invited to St Albans Diocesan MU events where we learn what is happening around the Diocese and further afield.  Members also receive a Diocesan magazine three times a year and also publications from our headquarters in London.

As members of the worldwide Mothers’ Union our principles are founded on the support of marriage and family life and is rooted in prayer.

We generally have a speaker for our meetings, but also we may have a Meditation or just a social gathering.

The Committee keep in touch with their particular members and see that they are well, or in need of help and/or prayer.

Funerals

Dealing with the death a loved one can be a hard time, with many difficult feelings, and lots of questions and anxieties. Whether or not you (or the person who has died) are regular attenders, the Church can offer support and help during those difficult days. A service can be held in the Church and/or at a crematorium/cemetery.
A minister from the church will meet with you, talk you through planning the funeral service, and can help with any questions or concerns. If you would like to discuss the possibility of a Christian service, the first thing you should do is tell your funeral director/undertaker who will explain what to do.
There is useful information about planning for a funeral on the Church of England funerals site.

An application can be made to have the deceased’s ashes interred in St. Nicholas’ churchyard. Please contact the Parish Office for more details.

The three churches of our parish offer beautiful, peaceful settings for your special day – and our clergy will be happy to help you plan and prepare. You will find lots of information in our Parish “Wedding Pack” here If you would like to make arrangements for your wedding please contact the Parish Office.
